Itinerary
On arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, our Whittalls Travels national guide and airport team will greet you warmly. After assistance, you will be transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Evening at leisure.
Dinner and overnight stay at Jetwing Sea or similar – Negombo.
After breakfast, depart north with a short refreshment stop at Puttalam. Continue to Wilpattu National Park for a morning safari among its natural “willu” lakes. After the safari, drive on to Anuradhapura. Your guide will show you the main sites including Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanwelisaya, Thuparamaya, the Samadhi Buddha statue, Moonstone carvings, Twin Ponds, Isurumuniya, and the large monastic ruins of Abhayagiri and Jetavanaramaya.
Dinner and overnight at Palm Garden Village Resort or similar – Anuradhapura.
After breakfast (approx. 09:00), drive east to Trincomalee. Check in to your beach hotel and relax in the afternoon.

This morning you’ll explore Trincomalee’s highlights: Fort Frederick, the War Cemetery, and Koneswaram Temple on Swami Rock. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the shoreline.

A free day to relax on Nilaveli beach. Optional half-day snorkeling at Pigeon Island (short boat ride), seasonal whale and dolphin watching, or other water activities — payable locally.

After breakfast, drive to historic Polonnaruwa, the island’s second medieval capital. Explore the Sacred Quadrangle and highlights such as the Royal Palace, Vatadage, Gal Vihara, and Thuparama. Later, continue to Dambulla and check in.

After breakfast, visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress to see the water gardens, frescoes, Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the lion platform, and the summit covering 1.6 hectares, which was filled with buildings during Sigiriya’s glory days. Return to your hotel for leisure.
Dinner and overnight at Amaya Lake or similar – Dambulla.
After breakfast, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple (also known as the Golden Temple), the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in the country, with the rock towering 160m over the surrounding plains. Inhabited since prehistoric times, a monastery was first established here in the 3rd century BC. Continue via Matale for a spice garden stop, then drive on to Kandy.
Dinner and overnight at Kandy Myst by Cinnamon or similar – Kandy.
After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, located less than 6 km from Kandy, occupying a loop of the Mahaweli River. Covering 61.25 hectares and 1,550 ft above sea level, the gardens feature more than 4,000 species of plants. Later, visit a tea factory to see how Ceylon tea is processed. Return to Kandy and in the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic followed by a traditional cultural dance performance.

After breakfast, depart for Colombo. Check in to your hotel and later enjoy a short city tour highlighting a few colonial and modern landmarks in the commercial capital of Sri Lanka.

About four hours before your international flight departure, we will transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport for check-in and onward journey.
