The Türkiye Food Festival took place at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Colombo, in collaboration with the Embassy of Türkiye and Turkish Airlines. The event aimed to introduce Sri Lanka to the rich and diverse cuisine of Türkiye. Guest chefs Volkan Gur and Eren Barishan flew in to prepare premium Turkish dishes, including Baklava and walnut pudding. The festival attracted dignitaries, ambassadors from Malaysia and Pakistan, members of parliament, and other distinguished guests. The General Manager of the Colombo Marriott, Elton Hurtis, expressed excitement about the collaboration.

Ambassador Demet Sekercioglu highlighted the significance of Turkish cuisine, which reflects diversity and fosters connections between cultures. Turkish hospitality, culinary traditions, and sustainable practices were also emphasized. The event celebrated multiple milestones, including Sri Lanka’s 75th independence anniversary, the Centenary of the Republic of Türkiye’s foundation, and the anniversaries of the Embassy in Colombo and Turkish Airlines flights to Colombo. The evening concluded with a mesmerizing Sufi dance performance, promoting messages of peace and love.
