Cycling Yogis, in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department, recently embarked on a three-day Ponniyin Selvan trail, immersing participants in the rich heritage of the renowned literary masterpiece. Now, inspired by this captivating experience, they are gearing up for an exciting cycling tour in Sri Lanka, uncovering the historical links between the island and the epic saga.

From September 28th to October 2nd, cyclists will traverse a captivating route encompassing Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Polonnaruwa. These locations hold deep significance, intricately woven into the fabric of the Ponniyin Selvan narrative penned by the legendary Kalki Krishnamurthy.

Ramanujar Moulana and his team conducted a meticulous reconnaissance of the route, ensuring an unforgettable journey for participants. Moulana emphasizes the historical connection between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, showcasing the enduring presence of the Chola dynasty. The awe-inspiring Shiva Temple, built by King Raja Raja Chola in Polonnaruwa, stands as a testament to their cultural influence on the island.

Covering approximately 200 km over five days, the cycling trail will lead adventurers through ancient wonders, evoking a sense of awe and enlightenment. From the revered ruins of Anuradhapura to the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the mystical caves of Dambulla, riders will trace the footsteps of the Chola dynasty and their indelible mark on Sri Lanka.

As participants pedal forward, they will witness the interconnectedness of Kodiyakarai in Tamil Nadu and Thondaiman Aaru in Sri Lanka, where sea voyages played a pivotal role in the Ponniyin Selvan saga.

This extraordinary cycling adventure, blending literature and travel, promises to forge cultural bridges, showcasing the enduring allure of Ponniyin Selvan while immersing enthusiasts in Sri Lanka’s captivating history and natural splendor.
